Among the changes in Florida Condo Law that goes into effect July 1st
is one that requires Directors give written certification they have read
the association's governing documents and policies, will work to uphold
the association's documents and policies and will faithfully discharge
their fiduciary responsibilities.
This certification replaces the similar certification that in prior years was due before the election. The new law provides Directors
90 days from election or appointment to provide the Certification and requires the document be kept on file for five years.
Failure to provide Certification results in suspension.
New Directors also are given the option of taking an approved class in lieu of the Certification. Proof of attendance replaces the Certification.
